RULES AND INFORMATION OF OCCUPANCY

Rules may change without notice. If you are unsure, check with the Administration Office

  1. The Golden Rules

Occupants who display the following conduct in the village are in breach of the Golden Rules and will have their accommodation immediately withdrawn.

  1. Failure to comply with Safety Instructions (including Cyclone Procedures)
  2. Threatening and Abusive Behaviour
  3. Fighting
  4. Possession, keeping or sale of illegal substances
  5. Tampering or deliberate misuse of fire and safety equipment
  6. Urinating in public
  7. Possession of firearms or dangerous weapons
  8. Wilful damage to village property
  9. Theft and Fraud
  1. Village Services

The village provides a range of facilities and services which can be accessed by all residents. There is a focus on maintaining the health and well-being of all residents and developing a living environment based on consideration and respect for others.
We are committed to maintaining high standards and encourage all residents to assist us in this process by respecting all facilities and advising of any maintenance requirements for quick resolution.
Pathways and lighting have been put in place for your safety; please ensure you use the pathways as you move between buildings.

Laundry facilities are provided free of charge, including washing powder. Fabric softeners and other types of washing powders are available for purchase from the retail shop. Dryers are also provided with sufficient clothesline space. Hanging of washing in walkways or on balconies is a hazard and not permitted as they can be dangerous to others.
There is filtered water and ice machines located in the ice room. The water is filtered both for the ice machine and to refill your drink containers.
An ATM facility is available to withdraw money from your savings, credit or cheque account. The ATM is located at the Village Tavern

We provide a complimentary courtesy bus service to Karratha Shopping Centre on an hourly basis on Thursdays evenings, 1800 – 2100, and Sunday/Public Holidays 10:00 – 15:00
External lockers are available if you require storage space for your belongings while on R&R. There are two locker areas: next to reception and next to the Gym.

Information within the village is communicated through five medium being;

  • Signage
  • Noticeboard’s
  • A ‘Welcome Folder’ located in each room
  • Table Talkers, and
  • Technologies such as an intranet, Searipple TV channel and internet.

Comment forms are available in the dining room, village office and tavern and should be placed in the survey box. The Village Manager will take on board your positive suggestions, concerns or comments and provide you with feedback

Outgoing mail can be sent or received via the village office. Should you be expecting any mail please ensure that you check with the staff in the Village Office. Incoming mail should be sent to;

For Late arrivals, please inform the Village Office so arrangements can be made to receive keys after hours. We ask that you use your night shift sign whilst on the night shift, and your room will be serviced before 0900. Cleaning staff will not enter your room if you are displaying a do not disturb sign. Please remove your signs when you are not in your room.

  1. General Rules

The following General Rules of Occupancy for the Village. Failure to abide by these rules may result in disciplinary action or the withdrawal of accommodation

  1. Accommodation

Village accommodation is provided for occupancy on the basis of one room per person. Rooms are allocated upon booking and are available from 2pm from the date of arrival until 10am on the date of departure. Occupancy outside of this time is by arrangement only and additional costs will apply. Failure to abide by “Rules and Information of Occupancy” may result in termination of accommodation at the discretion of Village Management.

  • Each room is provided with a bar fridge, TV, aerial cord, bed, mattress, 2 pillows, 2 pillowcases, 2 sheets, 2 towels, doona and cover. (Queen Rooms have a microwave and a kettle).
  • Rooms are serviced once per week, including a linen change per week.
  • Smoking is not permitted in rooms.
  • Shelves and other such attachments are not to be added to rooms. Pictures and the like are only to be attached by magnets or blue-tac, use of tape, glue or stickers of any kind is not allowed as it marks the walls.
  • Clotheslines, hanging of clothes or attachments of any kind are not permitted on verandas or surrounds.
  • All items of furniture and linen must remain in the room during occupation and upon vacation.
  • Your employer will be billed for any repairs or damage, repairs to return the room to its original condition or replacement of missing items that result during occupancy (excluding fair wear and tear).
  • If your key or Glyde Card is locked in the room and you require security or a staff member to unlock your door, a fee of $5.00 will be charged and donated to charity. If you lose your key or Glyde Card you will be charged $250 for the replacement of the lock barrel and reconfiguration of the electronic entry signature
  • Moving from one room to another is only permitted with the approval of the Village Manager
  • Occupants are requested to keep their rooms in clean, healthy and tidy condition at all times. Items are not to be left on or around the bed. Clear access to the bed is required to clean the room This will assist with room cleaning. Loose items and clothing should not be left on the floor. Items of furniture or equipment are not to be damaged, shifted or removed. Please note cooking in rooms is not permitted.
  • No Foreign objects are to be placed in the toilets.
  • Pets of any kind are not permitted in the Village.
  • Feeding of native or feral wildlife is not permitted. Feeding feral animals works against our pest management process.
  • It is the responsibility of all Village Occupants to insure any personal property, including cars, motorcycles, and bicycles. Management accepts no responsibility for theft, loss or damage of any property belonging to Village Occupants.
  • Vehicles are to be reverse parked in the allocated parking areas at all times
  • All vehicles must observe the speed limit around the village. The maximum speed limit allowed is 10 km/h or as signposted.
  • Management reserves the right to refuse entry to the Village.
  • Union organising or union-related activities of members of occupant companies are not permitted within the Village without the prior written approval of management.
  • Name, room key, Photo I.D. and employing company must be supplied when requested by Village staff or security.
  • All surrounding areas of rooms, including balconies, are to be kept tidy and clear of litter, cigarette butts etc. at all times.
  1. Dining Room

 No catering equipment (e.g. glasses, cutlery, and crockery) can be removed from the Dining Room. Two plastic containers with lids and one plastic bag are considered adequate for Cribs. Instances of persons taking excess food will be reported to their employer. Takeaway meals are only for Occupants going to work and are to be made up during the meal time prior to going to work

  • Dining Room hours are in Annex A
  • Persons using the Dining Room must be clean and neatly dressed. The minimum standard of dress is a T-shirt, shorts and thongs. Singlets, bare feet or dirty work clothes are not permitted in the Dining Room at any time, and Work Uniforms are not permitted after 6 p.m.
  • Anti-social behaviour in the Dining Room will not be tolerated (e.g. swearing, drunkenness, theft)
  • Any complaints/suggestions about the quality, quantity and variety of food are to be directed to management via the “Customer Satisfaction Surveys” kept in the Dining Room.
  • The Dining Room is a smoke and alcohol-free area.
  • Name, room key, Photo I.D. and employing company must be supplied when requested by Village staff or security on entry to the Dining Room.
  1. Safety

Please take the time to read the Cyclone & Emergency Evacuation Procedures Card.

  • Fire extinguishers are located on the external walls of all accommodation blocks. Misuse of this equipment puts other Occupants at risk and will not be tolerated. Smoke alarms in rooms must not be tampered with. Spare batteries are available from the Village Administration Office.
  • Petrol, distillate and other flammable items are not to be stored in or around Village Rooms.
  • Vehicles must be parked in designated areas only and must not encroach on the pathways. Failure to obey parking signage may result in vehicles being clamped or towed at the owner’s expense.
  • Motorcycles, bicycles, go-carts or any other vehicle must not be parked on verandas or pathways. Management reserves the right to remove abandoned or disused vehicles from the site at any time.
  • Speed signs and traffic control signs must be observed at all times. Recreational vehicles and boats must be removed from the Village grounds when requested by Village staff
  1. Noise

To respect the rights of all Village Occupants, misconduct by such as excessive noise, partying and other anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated at any time. As a general rule 10am and 10pm are designated as the shut down time for excessive noise

  • Occupants are to immediately comply with requests by Village Security or Management to cease noise making activities and/or move on. Failure to comply with Village Security or Management will not be tolerated.
  • Occupants are responsible for the guests they invite onto the Village premises. Occupants must accompany guests at all times and will be held accountable for any loss or damage caused by their guests. Any anti-social behaviour of invited guests will be treated as anti-social behaviour of their guest host.
  • Gambling is not permitted.
  1. Tavern
  • Tavern Hours are in Annex A
  • The Tavern operates under a liquor licence that authorises the sale of liquor for consumption on the licensed premises to Village Occupants and up to two guests per guest at any one time in the company of that guest. Management is committed to operating the Tavern in accordance with the terms of the Roebourne Shire Liquor Accord 2007.
  • Occupants bringing guests into the Tavern must complete the guest register, located at the Tavern entries, with the guest’s details and the names and addresses of their guests
  • Occupants wishing to purchase liquor at the Tavern for consumption on or off the Tavern premises must produce their ID card, room keys and tag, or such other identification as the licensee approves.
  • No open containers of liquor may be removed from the Tavern.
  • Drunkenness and anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated. Any intoxicated person or person exhibiting disorderly behaviour will be refused entry to the Tavern.
  • Any intoxicated person or person exhibiting disorderly behaviour on the Tavern premises will be refused service and removed from the Tavern. Such persons will be issued a Notice of Refusal of Service card as per the procedure set out in the Roebourne Shire Liquor Accord 2007 and may only re-enter the premises when advised by the Approved Manager of the Tavern that he/she may do so.
  • Patrons are encouraged to drink responsibly, respect the rights of neighbours and control their noise levels so as not to disturb the amenity of the area.
  • Patrons are encouraged to drink in moderation and consume food. Consumption of low-alcohol beer and the free water available at the Tavern is actively encouraged.
  • Persons using the Tavern must be clean and neatly dressed. The minimum standard of dress is singlet, shorts and thongs. Jackets or any other clothing bearing the patches or insignia of any Outlaw Motorcycle gang are not permitted
  • Persons under the age of 18 years:
  • will not be admitted into the premises unless in the company of a responsible adult;
  • will not be served alcohol;
  • shall not be permitted to drink liquor in the Village
  • will have any false identification presented to Tavern staff confiscated immediately and forwarded to the Police.
  • Occupants are reminded that the beer garden area of the Tavern is a licensed area and, together with the Tavern, must be vacated at closing time.
  • Any complaints by a guest or a guest’s guest shall be directed to the Approved Manager of the Tavern.
  • All liquor sales will cease upon the issue of a cyclone yellow alert and will continue to be prohibited during any red alert.

 

  1. Swimming Pool Area
  •  The swimming pool is open to Village Occupants and their guests from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
  • All persons using the pool do so at their own risk.
  • There is no Lifeguard patrolling the pool.
  • Pool furniture may not be removed from the pool area.
  • Rafts, surfboards, Boogie-boards, boats or other similar items are prohibited in the pool.
  • Running in the pool enclosure is not permitted.
  • Pets are not permitted in the pool enclosure.
  • Excessive noise is not permitted in the pool area.
  • Dry off thoroughly before leaving the pool area.
  • Occupants using the swimming pool must ensure the childproof gate is secured behind them.
  • Glass, containers, bottles or any breakable items are not to be taken into the pool area.
  • Any vandalism to the facilities should be reported to the Village Management immediately.
  • Alcohol is banned from this area

 

10    BBQ Area

  • The BBQ areas are available by arrangement through reception (except when fire restrictions are in force). BBQ Packs can be ordered from the Village Office in lieu of one meal. 24 hours’ notice is required.
  • The barbecue and the surrounding area must be left clean and tidy.
  • The barbecue area is alcohol-free unless agreed by management.
  • All rubbish must be placed in the bins provided.
  • All leftover food must be cleared away and disposed of appropriately.
  • Village curfew times must be observed while in the barbecue area.
  • Individuals will be held responsible for any vandalism or damage to the facilities.
  • Any vandalism to the facilities should be reported to Village Management immediately.

 

11        Recreation Area and Hard-court

  • The Recreation Area and Hard Court are open from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and open to Village Occupants and their guests.
  • Smoking is not permitted.
  • Those utilising these facilities are to keep them clean and share the facilities courteously with any other authorised person or persons.
  • Any vandalism to the facilities should be reported to Village Management immediately.
  • Individuals will be held responsible for any vandalism or damage to equipment or facilities.
  • Alcohol is banned from this area

 

12        Gym

  • Occupants need to complete an induction with the designated Village staff member who will sign their Disclaimer form, the form then needs to be taken to reception and $25.00 cash deposit for a Gym key paid.
  • Please ensure you sign in on the attendance sheet.
  • You must bring a towel when you use the gym.
  • There is to be no eating in the gym (the exception being the waiting area, please dispose of any rubbish in the bins provided).
  • No spitting or blowing your nose on or near equipment, mats or floor area.
  • Individuals accept that use of the gym is at their own risk. Management do not accept any responsibility for any injuries. Ensure that you train within your limits.
  • No training shoes allowed on the mats. Wrestling or boxing shoes are accepted.
  • Any vandalism to the facilities should be reported to the Village Management immediately.
  • Individual will be held responsible for any vandalism or damage to equipment of facilities.
